The grapes for this wine are sourced from vineyards with an average age of 40 years, with the oldest vines dating back to 1946. The majority of the fruit is destemmed, although a quarter of the bunches are fermented whole-cluster. Aging predominantly occurs in large casks, with a few smaller barrels—both new and old—also used. In the glass, the wine presents a medium ruby color, with its deep hues mellowing over time. There's a subtle reduction on the nose, revealing gamey red and black fruit notes alongside bright pepper. The palate offers floral hints and a distinctive mineral clarity. While the tannins remain robust, they are starting to round off, providing a fine structural backbone that leads to an energetically satisfying finish.
